Guwahati : Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a sharp attack on the Indian National Congress during a public rally in Guwahati on Sunday, alleging that under Congress rule, Assam had become a haven for illegal immigrants.
Shah said that the Bharatiya Janata Party government has taken strong action against illegal encroachments, freeing a large amount of land in the state.
He stated that when Congress was in power, Assam had become a hub for illegal immigrants. “We promised to free Assam from illegal settlers. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, 1.51 lakh bighas of land have been reclaimed from illegal occupancy,” Shah said.
Third-Term Mandate Appeal
The Home Minister urged the public to give the BJP a third consecutive mandate, emphasizing that the party is committed to addressing the issue of illegal immigration not only in Assam but across the country. He added that with the people’s support, tougher action will be taken against illegal immigration.
