On Rajasthan Day, CM Bhajanlal Sharma Flags Off 207 New Roadways Buses to Strengthen Public Transport Network
Jaipur: On the occasion of Rajasthan Day, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma gave a major gift to the people of the state by flagging off 207 new buses for the Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (Roadways). The ceremony was held on Thursday at the Heerapura Bus Terminal on Ajmer Road in Jaipur.
As part of a state budget announcement, the new buses have been introduced with the aim of providing affordable, safe, and better transport facilities to the public. The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Premchand Bairwa, Jaipur MP Manju Sharma, and Minister Jogaram Patel.
Before flagging off the buses, the Chief Minister inspected facilities inside contracted Roadways buses, performed a formal puja, and then inaugurated the new fleet.
The newly inducted 207 buses include 100 Blue Line buses, 79 non-AC buses, and 28 AC buses. According to officials, the addition of these buses will strengthen rural and urban connectivity across the state, revive services on previously discontinued routes, and improve overall passenger convenience.
The new fleet is expected to enhance Rajasthan’s public transport system by offering more comfortable, safe, and reliable travel options. Improved connectivity is particularly anticipated in rural and remote areas, providing direct benefits to commuters.
The buses will operate on multiple routes across the state, with seating comfort and safety features specially designed for passengers. Roadways officials stated that the fleet will improve both long-distance and intercity travel services.
700 women road safety ambassadors receive helmets
During the event, the government also launched a road safety initiative. Chief Minister Sharma distributed ISI-mark helmets to 700 women road safety ambassadors. The initiative aims to encourage helmet usage among the public and reduce road accidents. The government hopes such efforts will lead to safer travel and a decline in road fatalities.
