Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressing
New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a virtual meeting with Chief Ministers on March 27 via video conferencing, where discussions are likely to focus on the worsening situation following the Iran conflict. Chief Ministers from poll-bound states will not participate in the meeting.
Earlier, on March 24, Modi told the Rajya Sabha that if the Iran war continues, it could have serious consequences. He warned that the coming period may pose challenges similar to those seen during the COVID-19 pandemic and emphasized the need for coordinated efforts between the central and state governments.
Meanwhile, the government has dismissed reports of shortages of petrol, diesel, and cooking gas across the country. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas stated that India has sufficient reserves, with enough petrol and diesel supplies to last for 60 days regardless of global developments.
The government also described social media reports about fuel shortages as propaganda aimed at triggering panic buying in the market. The ministry warned that strict action will be taken against those spreading rumors about shortages.
