New Delhi : Eid is being celebrated across India today, but festivities have been significantly influenced by the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran. In several cities including Srinagar, Bhopal, Jaipur, Ajmer, Sikar, Murshidabad and Sambhal, members of the Shia community attended Eid prayers wearing black armbands as a mark of protest.In Bhopal, tributes were paid at an Imambara with a display of Ali Khamenei’s image. During the sermon, religious leader Maulana Razi-ul-Hasan called for standing against oppression. The community also observed a “black Eid” at Fatehgarh Imambara, where slogans against the United States and Israel were raised after prayers.Across parts of Rajasthan, including Jaipur, Sikar and Ajmer, people offered prayers wearing black bands, while black flags were seen at several mosques. In a symbolic gesture of protest, many refrained from wearing new clothes or preparing traditional Eid dishes such as kheer and sevaiyan.Meanwhile, large gatherings were reported at mosques for Eid prayers. In Ajmer, devotees gathered at the revered Ajmer Sharif Dargah, where the ‘Jannati Darwaza’ was opened early in the morning as part of the Eid-ul-Fitr observances.
