India vs New Zealand: Captain Shubman Gill and vice-captain Shreyas Iyer have returned to the ODI setup as India announced their 15-man squad for the three-match ODI series against New Zealand.
India vice-captain Shreyas Iyer has been recalled to the ODI squad for the upcoming three-match home series against New Zealand, subject to fitness clearance from the BCCI Centre of Excellence. Iyer has been sidelined since October after sustaining a spleen injury while fielding during the tour of Australia and is yet to return to competitive cricket.
Shubman Gill will lead the side, marking his return to ODI cricket after missing the South Africa series due to a neck spasm picked up during the Kolkata Test. While Gill has already returned to action in the T20Is against South Africa, Iyer’s availability is subject to fitness clearance from BCCI.
Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj also makes his way back into the ODI setup after being overlooked for the South Africa series. Siraj last played an ODI during the Australia tour and has since remained part of the Test squad, while also turning out for Hyderabad in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy.
