Mumbai : Following the success of the Dhurandhar franchise, attention has now shifted to what director Aditya Dhar will take up next. According to a report by Variety India, Dhar is currently evaluating multiple projects, including a collaboration with Ranveer Singh.
Sources reveal that Dhar is considering three scripts at the moment—The Immortal Ashwatthama, a historical drama, and a large-scale sports film. One of these is expected to be his next venture, unless a new project takes priority.
The Immortal Ashwatthama remains a dream project for Dhar. The film had earlier been shelved due to its high budget, despite significant pre-production work. With his recent success and growing industry confidence, there is now renewed possibility of reviving the project. Before it was put on hold, Vicky Kaushal had been cast in the lead role.
Talks Around Chandragupta Maurya Film
Another project under discussion is a historical film based on the reign of Chandragupta Maurya. Sources suggest that Aditya Dhar has been in talks with Ranveer Singh for this project since last year, and discussions may gain momentum again after Dhurandhar’s success.
The subject is considered relatively unexplored in mainstream cinema and offers strong elements of drama, action, and politics. If Ashwatthama does not move forward, this historical project could take precedence.
Sports Drama Also in Early Stages
In addition, Dhar is also developing a big-budget sports drama, though details about the project remain limited at this stage.
Sources further indicate that Dhar is unlikely to begin his next film immediately after Dhurandhar 2. After dedicating nearly three years to a single project, the filmmaker is expected to take a short break before starting his next venture.
