Jaipur : Due to an active Western Disturbance in North India, the weather in Rajasthan has changed significantly. Late Saturday night, several districts including Jaipur and Bikaner received rainfall.
On Sunday morning, hail was also reported in Tapukara. The sudden change in weather has brought relief from the heat, as night temperatures dropped by about 2–3°C.
The India Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert for 10 districts today. According to the department, another spell of rain and possible hailstorms is expected from 18 March.
More than half an inch of rainfall
Under the influence of the current weather system, rain was recorded in several districts including Bikaner, Jaipur, Jhunjhunu, and Khairthal–Tijara district. In Dungargarh, rainfall that began late at night continued until Sunday morning.
Meanwhile, Jhunjhunu recorded 12.5 mm of rainfall, while Pilani recorded 2 mm. Early Sunday morning around 6 a.m., Bhiwadi witnessed heavy rain accompanied by hail.
Earlier on Saturday, daytime temperatures dropped by up to 3°C in several districts, including Kota, Jodhpur, and Jaipur. Maximum temperatures in all major cities remained below 40°C.
Intermittent rainfall throughout the night in Dungargarh (Bikaner) also led to a temperature drop of more than 2°C.
Another weather system from March 18
According to Radheshyam Sharma, a weather system is currently active and its impact will remain until 15 March, bringing temporary relief from the heat in the state. Over the past one or two days, temperatures in some cities have fallen by 2–3°C.
Weather conditions are expected to remain clear on 16 and 17 March. However, a new weather system is likely to become active from 18 March, which may bring storms, rain, and isolated hailstorms in parts of the state for about two days.
