Jaipur he ad hoc committee of the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) is set to organise the Rajasthan Premier League (RPL), a state-level T20 tournament modelled on the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Ad hoc committee convener Mohit Yadav said that the league is being planned to boost cricketing activities across the state and provide a larger platform for talented players from Rajasthan.
According to Yadav, the proposed RPL is part of the association’s broader efforts to strengthen the state’s cricket structure and create more opportunities for emerging players. A detailed action plan for the tournament is expected to be prepared in the next meeting of the ad hoc committee.
Preparations underway for launch this year
Yadav said the RCA is working to obtain the necessary approval from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and will soon seek a suitable time slot for the event.
The association is aiming to launch the Rajasthan Premier League by September this year.
League to follow IPL-style format
The RPL is expected to be conducted entirely on the lines of the IPL, with:
- multiple franchise-based teams
- player auctions
- professionally managed fixtures
- enhanced match presentation and fan engagement
- awards for outstanding performances
Yadav added that even if RCA elections take place during this period, the ad hoc committee intends to complete preparations to such an extent that the newly elected RCA body can conduct the tournament smoothly without any difficulty.
Awards function also planned
Alongside the league, the RCA is also planning to hold an awards function to honour talented players from the state.
Cricketers who have delivered strong performances at the domestic and national levels will be felicitated across different categories. The initiative is aimed at motivating young players and encouraging greater enthusiasm for the sport.
The RCA’s move is being seen as a significant step for Rajasthan’s cricket ecosystem. If successfully launched, the Rajasthan Premier League could emerge as a strong platform for state players to progress to the national level.
