Karauli : Congress General Secretary Sachin Pilot took an apparent dig at his political opponents without naming anyone, saying that a person’s sincerity can be judged by looking into their eyes.
“Look into my eyes and you will know whether I am speaking the truth or lying. I have always respected every leader I have worked with. We may have differences of opinion, but there has never been bitterness in our relationships,” Pilot said while addressing a public gathering in Rajasthan’s Karauli district.
The Congress leader was speaking at the unveiling ceremony of a statue of his father, former Union Minister and farmer leader Rajesh Pilot, in Sakarghata village, where a large farmers’ convention was also organized.
Focus Should Be on Public Service, Not Positions
Addressing party workers and supporters, Pilot emphasized that politics should be driven by public service rather than the pursuit of positions and power.
“The organization I work for is not meant to distribute posts. Our first responsibility is to serve the people. Those who work only for personal gains and positions will remain dissatisfied, while those working in the public interest will always find satisfaction. Even today, people stand with the truth,” he said.
Thousands of people, including farmers and women, attended the event, which turned into a major show of strength for the Congress leader.
Grand Welcome by Supporters
Pilot arrived at Hindaun City Railway Station by train before proceeding to Sakarghata village. Upon his arrival, supporters welcomed him with flower showers, including petals dropped from JCB machines, as large crowds gathered along the route.
The event centered around honoring Rajesh Pilot’s legacy as a prominent farmer leader and Congress stalwart.
Criticism of BJP Governments
During his address, Pilot also launched a sharp attack on the BJP-led governments at both the Centre and in Rajasthan.
He alleged that Congress Rajya Sabha candidate Meenakshi Natarajan’s nomination in Madhya Pradesh had been rejected illegally and claimed that authorities failed to provide a fair hearing.
Pilot said opposition parties were forced to protest before election authorities accepted their memorandum on the issue.
Former Minister Targets Ashok Gehlot
The event also witnessed strong remarks from former Rajasthan minister Ramesh Meena, who targeted former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot over allegations related to the 2020 political crisis in Rajasthan.
Meena challenged Gehlot’s repeated claims that MLAs who traveled to Manesar during the rebellion had accepted money.
“If Ashok Gehlot believes MLAs received ₹10 crore each, then both he and I should undergo a narco test. I have documents regarding how much money was allegedly given to others,” Meena claimed.
He further urged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to make an objective assessment of the party’s leadership and place responsibility in the hands of honest and capable leaders.
Message of Unity Amid Political Speculation
Pilot’s remarks about respecting colleagues despite political differences are likely to draw attention amid ongoing discussions about factionalism within the Rajasthan Congress.
While refraining from naming any individual, his comments appeared aimed at projecting an image of unity, mutual respect, and commitment to public service, even in the face of internal political disagreements.
