Washington DC : Donald Trump has once again made a strong claim regarding Iran’s uranium reserves. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on Saturday, he said the United States will obtain highly enriched uranium from Iran under any circumstances.
Trump warned that if a major agreement is not reached with Iran by Wednesday, the current ceasefire could be terminated. He made it clear that the blockade would continue, and if necessary, bombing operations could resume.
His remarks come at a time when talks between the two countries appear to be stalled rather than progressing. Recent indirect negotiations held in Pakistan failed to produce any concrete outcome. Although backchannel discussions had raised some hopes, both sides remain divided on several key issues.
The situation around the Strait of Hormuz also remains unclear, prompting many ships to avoid passing through the route. According to a report by Al Jazeera, conflicting information has created uncertainty and fear among shipping operators.
Even after announcements that the strait was open, some vessels attempted to pass through but reportedly turned back due to the ongoing confusion, choosing to avoid potential risks.
Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has stated that the Strait of Hormuz is fully open for all commercial shipping. However, Iran’s Parliament Speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, warned that the route would not remain open if the United States continues its blockade of Iranian ports.
Meanwhile, the United States Central Command has said the blockade will remain in place until President Trump orders it to be lifted.
